Neil King

I don't know if any Nordic people read this, but a detour of 100 miles (160km) is wildly inaccurate. The alternative route is an extra 27 miles (43km) to travel to the peninsulas of South Lorne (south of Inveraray), Knapdale and Kintyre (and the islands served from mainland ports on Kintyre) or an extra 48 miles (77km) to travel to the peninsula of Cowal (although Cowal has a regular car ferry which is the preferred alternative to driving for access to many parts of that peninsula even when the road is not closed).
